FC Salzburg v AS Roma: Knockout Round Play-Off Leg One - UEFA Europa League

AS Roma are now concerned that Paulo Dybala will leave the Serie A side this summer. The Argentina playmaker is also a transfer target of Manchester United and Newcastle United.

That is according to Calciomercato, which reports that Dybala has raised fears at the Stadio Olimpico that he will look to leave. The 29-year-old only joined the Giallorossi last July as a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired. But Roma are not sure he will stay long.

Dybala has worried Roma chiefs with his recent comments as they now fear he will chase a move this summer. The 2022 World Cup winner has also identified the main causes why he would eye a move. One of which is whether or not Jose Mourinho would remain in charge.

But the key reason behind Dybala staying in Rome or trying to leave is the offers that come his way. The Laguna Larga native will prioritise the project on offer above all else when the maestro decides his future. Yet Mourinho departing the helm would influence his decision.

Dybala has enjoyed a productive season so far since joining Mourinho at Roma. The 36-cap star has offered 11 goals and seven assists through 22 appearances across all competitions this term. His haul includes two goals during four Europa League ties totalling 259 minutes.

Paulo Dybala has piqued the interest of Newcastle United for a transfer from Roma

Dybala’s form at Roma has piqued the interests of Manchester United and Newcastle for a transfer. Calciomercato also reported recently that the Premier League pair had registered their interest in his services. He could even move for just €12m (£10.5m) over the summer.

The Giallorossi agreed to include a bargain release clause for overseas clubs in his contract through to June 2025. It is also worth €20m (£17.5m) for rival Serie A teams. But the terms of his deal feature an automatic extension of his terms which removes the release clause.

Yet Dybala can override the extension, which would increase his salary from €4.5m-a-year (£76.5k-a/w) to €6m-a/y (£102k-a/w). So, Manchester United and Newcastle would stand a chance of sealing his transfer if their proposals indeed tempt Dybala to quit Roma already.
