Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe Marotta is set to frustrate Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuits of Marcelo Brozovic. He is loath to sell the midfielder in a cut-price transfer.
That is according to Calciomercato.it, which reports Marotta refuses to weaken Inter Milan on the cheap. So, he will demand offers starting at €40-50m (£35-44m) before considering letting Brozovic leave San Siro. Yet he is no longer a crucial part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
Inzaghi has afforded Brozovic a lesser role in the Nerazzurri’s recent matches. The 30-year-old also missed nine games with a calf injury in October and another seven with a separate calf injury in January. In total, he has played in just 17 fixtures all season for 1,004 minutes.

Brozovic’s difficulties returning to his best levels has seen Inzaghi limit his minutes. So, San Siro chiefs no longer see the 83-cap Croatia international to be non-transferable. Marotta, though, will still chase top-dollar with the Nerazzurri vice-captain under contract to 2026.

Inter Milan only extended the midfielder’s stay with the Serie A side in March 2022 with new terms. Football Italia reported the Nerazzurri gave him a €6.5-a-year (£110k-a/w) wage to fend off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham with his previous deal ending last summer.

Tottenham remain keen as Chelsea eye Brozovic’s transfer from Inter Milan
Tottenham remain keen on a transfer for Brozovic, though. Inter Live has reported recently that Spurs are mulling an offer of €25m (£22m) or €10m (£9m) plus Japhet Tanganga in the summer if Antonio Conte remains in charge. The centre-half is of interest to the Nerazzurri.
But Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also tracking Brozovic’s situation. The Blues and La Liga giants feel his profile would suit their plans next season. Yet it would take an important offer for Marotta to let the midfielder leave San Siro.
