Joe Exotic’s doctors suspect he has bladder cancer but has refused treatment, a new report published this week has claimed.
The former zookeeper, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, became a source of huge media interest in 2020 when Netflix released the docuseries, Tiger King.
He is currently serving a 21-year sentence in prison. He was originally jailed in 2020 and was re-sentenced in January 2022.
A new report claims that Joe Exotic‘s cancer has worsened – here’s what we know about the reports so far.
Joe Exotic cancer
According to a letter obtained by TMZ, Joe’s doctors fear that his prostate cancer has spread to his bladder after he was diagnosed in 2021.
The publication reports that Joe has allegedly declined to undergo further medical treatment.
“I want to stay here and just let it take its course,” the former Tiger King star allegedly wrote in the letter, as per the outlet.
“The world has to know just how corrupt our justice system is,” the letter said. “If I have to be the one to die innocent in here fighting for the truth maybe people around the world will finally speak up for the truth for once.”
He reportedly wrote a new will
In another recent report by TMZ, Joe reportedly prepared a new will and decided to leave everything he has to his fiancé, Seth Posey.
“I could care less about dying, my birthday is coming up soon and all I want is to see Seth,” he allegedly wrote in the letter.
The world was introduced to Seth in the documentary series as a former zookeeper’s Bachelor King competition participant.
The pair met on the internet and dated for some time before they called it quits. Joe was set to remarry someone else but he and Seth reconciled in June last year.
Joe confirmed diagnosis in 2021
Joe confirmed his cancer diagnosis in May 2021 and asked to be freed from prison at the time so that he can seek medical help.
In May 2022, he offered a major health update and said that his cancer is in remission.
In a Twitter post last year, Joe wrote: “Today the doctor informed me that my cancer is in remission, so now I just have to wait for the blood test to come back and I will be done with all this.”
