Chelsea transfer news: Blues ready to beat Arsenal to Vitor Roque signing

Chelsea are reportedly stepping up efforts to beat Arsenal to the signing of Vitor Roque, with the striker’s father already spotted in London this week.

According to Sport, the Blues are ready to do all the can to land the Brazilian international with Arsenal and FC Barcelona currently leading the race to sign the 18-year-old, with the report stating that Chelsea believe the forward could become the new Luis Suarez.

With Chelsea set for a mass squad clearout, there’s a growing sense that Todd Boehly could be ready to splash the cash yet again this summer, and Roque could be viewed as a potential replacement for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is keen to return to Barcelona.

The news will come as a sharp blow for Arsenal, who according to Goal Brasil are the leaders in the race to sign Roque as the player’s father was in the English capital this week to discuss a potential deal with the north London giants.

Indeed, whilst Arsenal’s striker situation is quite good, there’s no denying that adding another Brazilian wonderkid to their ranks will get supporters excited, especially with Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos already on Mikel Arteta’s books at the club.

Yet with Chelsea stepping up their attempts to land the teenager, Arsenal could soon face the prospect of fighting a losing battle if the Blues do in fact launch a bid to sign the Brazilian, even if the west London side are to miss out on European football entirely this season.

Roque is well on his way to becoming one of the best strikers in football after an incredible 2022, and with Chelsea now stepping up their efforts to sign the attacker, the Blues winning the race would be nothing short of a massive blow for Arsenal.

The Gunners have been chasing Roque from the start, and with Chelsea and their infinite money machine now set to barge in on another transfer, Arsenal could be left with nothing if the Blues manage to secure the 18-year-old’s signature this summer.
