Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach talent Manu Kone as a replacement for Jude Bellingham, though Newcastle United are also eyeing the midfielder.
According to Sport1, the French youngster is one of four players Dortmund are considering as a replacement for the England international, who is set to leave Germany in the summer for what could be a British transfer record as the 19-year-old looks primed to move to the Premier League.
And as per the report, Kone is now an option for the Bundesliga giants, who according to Media Foot has already been the subject of a bid from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, one that Gladbach rejected as they look to cash in on the 21-year-old midfielder this summer.
With the race to sign Kone now taking another twist, Dortmund could be an appealing club for the French youngster given how incredible the Black and Yellow are at developing players and giving them a platform to impress on the biggest of stages.

Indeed, although remaining in the Bundesliga might not be a smart move for Kone on the surface, signing for Dortmund ahead of Newcastle as a replacement for a player as important as Bellingham could be a great decision in the long-term for the future French international.

Although Kone himself might feel ready for a Premier League switch, an extra year or two of development in the Bundesliga could be exactly what the youngster needs to reach that next stage, and signing for Dortmund instead of Newcastle could achieve just that.
Kone must opt to sign for Dortmund despite tempting Newcastle move

The Premier League is as attractive an option as it has ever been in Europe, with salaries hitting an all-time high and the quality of football in the division the best any league in the world has to offer. Yet for Kone, signing for Dortmund would be a wise move for the young midfielder.
As we know, Newcastle are interested in the Frenchman having had a bid rejected by Gladbach in January. And although the Magpies could come back in with another offer, Kone himself will be best to sign for Dortmund to continue his development, which could hit exciting new heights.
