Aston Villa have now identified Tammy Abraham as their top target with Roma set to cut their asking price. But boss Unai Emery must rival Everton to secure the striker’s transfer.
That is according to Calciomercato, which reports that Aston Villa have etched Abraham’s name atop their shopping list. The Birmingham natives are huge admirers of the Roma star and have been monitoring his situation with the Stadio Olimpico outfit for several months.
A handful of rival Premier League teams have also added Abraham to their shortlists with Roma warming to a farewell. The striker has fallen from a place of absolute importance in Jose Mourinho’s plans. Now, clubs sense an opportunity to add the 25-year-old’s services.

Roma slash their asking price for Aston Villa’s top transfer target, Abraham
Abraham is very fond of Roma and considers Rome his second home after his two seasons with the Giallorossi. But the former Chelsea forward may be on the way out after sporting director Tiago Pinto admitted his output so far this season has not met their expectations.
Now, Roma would consider selling Abraham for offers starting at €40m (£35m) with Aston Villa intent on targeting his transfer. The Serie A side have cut millions off of their price tag with the 11-cap England international scoring just seven goals in 37 games so far this term.

Everton and Manchester United are also considering moves to sign the striker
Recent reports by iNews had claimed Roma would demand £67m for Abraham amid Aston Villa and Everton targeting his transfer. It is the value of Chelsea’s buy-back clause which is active from this summer. While Manchester United have also regularly scouted the striker.
Yet Abraham only offering six goals in 26 Serie A appearances this term, having hit 17 in 37 last season, forces Roma to reconsider their asking price. So much so, in fact, that a £35m exit would barely return the Giallorossi any profit on the £34m they paid Chelsea in 2021.

Aston Villa know what Abraham can offer having secured his loan transfer from Chelsea in 2018/19. The Blues product also captivated Jack Grealish whilst firing 26 goals in 40 games to lead the Villans to promotion. He scored 25 in 37 regular-season Championship fixtures.
“Unbelievable,” Grealish claimed on Instagram in 2020, via Birmingham Live. “[I] couldn’t believe how good he was with the ball for how tall he is. [I] loved playing with him.”
