Arsenal transfer news: £26m target will leave if club miss out on Europe

Jesper Lindstrom has reportedly told Eintracht Frankfurt he will leave the club if they fail to qualify for Europe, with Arsenal interested in the Danish international.

According to Sport Bild via GGFN, the 23-year-old winger is keen to play continental football again this season, with Lindstrom starring for Frankfurt in the last few campaigns in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, yet the German side could miss out on Europe entirely for next year.

Frankfurt sit in sixth place in the Bundesliga standings with VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz all breathing down their necks in the standings, and as a result, Oliver Glasner’s side could realistically miss out on a European spot, much to Arsenal’s amusement.

As per Sport Bild, the north London side are one of many clubs interested in signing the attacker, who Frankfurt are believed to value at just €30m (£26m), an asking price that could be very tempting for Mikel Arteta, who might be looking to sign another attacker this summer.

Primarily an attacking midfielder though capable of playing out on the wings, Lindstrom’s versatility could be an appealing quality for Arteta, who has already got plenty of joy out of Leandro Trossard since the Belgian’s move to north London in January.

Moreover, with Arsenal set to play Champions League football next season, quality attacking depth will be key if the Gunners are to make a deep run in the competition, with Lindstrom an ideal addition should the youngster decide to leave Frankfurt this summer.

Arsenal’s return to the Champions League has been long in the making, and Arteta knows that he will have to flesh the squad out if he is to stand with a shot of European success, which could make Lindstrom an exciting prospect in the market this summer.

Talented, versatile and perfect for Arsenal’s transfer policy, the Danish international ticks a lot of boxes for what the Gunners will be looking for in the transfer window, and Lindstrom making the decision to leave Frankfurt would make things easier for the north London side.
