RANBIR Kapoor has been praised for his response to haters after he was called “toxic” over a controversial comment he made to his wife.
The Bollywood star hit back at the critics with an unexpected video in which he said: “negativity is important”.

It comes after his wife Alia Bhatt uploaded a makeup tutorial for her army of followers before saying something that worried fans.
She revealed that if she wears too much lipstick Ranbir tells her to “wipe it off” as he prefers the natural colour of her lips.
The comment sent the internet into a spin and outraged fans were quick to label the actor “toxic” and call him a “red flag”.
One even went as far as to say “Alia, Please blink if you’re in danger.”
In the response video Ranbir, who is not on social media, said: “I feel negativity is very important especially if you are an artist and if you have some work out there I think both need to exist because then that creates a balance.
He added that a lot of things are written about actors which are not true and that things said should be taken “with a pinch of salt” as he does not own the image the media creates of him.

He continued: “It’s owned by the public, it’s owned by people who like my work or dislike my work and they are allowed to say anything about me.”
Speaking about the lipstick video he said: “Recently, I was reading some article about being toxic and something relating to some statement I made and I understand this.
“And I am on the side of the people who are fighting for the toxic masculinity, if they use me as the face of it, it’s fine because their fight is bigger than just me feeling sad about them having an opinion about what I said. I look at a larger picture.”
The fan who re-posted the video showed his support for the star and wrote: “what a man” in the caption.
Others were quick to spring into action in the comments section and praise his statement.
One user wrote: “He’s the gold standard” and another said: “we love you and are forever with you Ranbir.”
A third commented: “All I know is he is not a red flag but just an introvert, beautiful person inside just cannot express like others.”
This is not the only surprising post to cause a stir recently – as earlier this month Shilpa Shetty’s husband posted a tweet saying “we have separated” – sending fans into a frenzy.
After receiving floods of messages from concerned fans, Raj Kundra revealed the announcement was actually made as part of a marketing gimmick to draw media attention.
