Crystal Palace are said to be interested in appointing Vincent Kompany after deciding to hand Patrick Vieira his P45 in south London.
It was the Guardian who claimed that Steve Parish is considering a move for the Belgian, and he has now spoken about the Eagles following their decision to sack Vieira.
What’s the story?
Well, the 36-year-old is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: “When I heard the news, rather than to be emotional, I try to understand why and I looked at the league table first and was just checking, and I thought Palace were in the bottom three and five points behind and I see they are 12th and three points clear of relegation.”
“So for my objective rational mind I would say Crystal Palace would be very happy if they are not in the relegation zone based on the squad they have assembled, and the quality of the players.
“It doesn’t sit well with me. If you are underachieving in your job, then I think it is fair enough if a club makes a decision but if you are overachieving, which is what they are doing, then whoever is making the decision has to come forward because what you have done is taken out a manager who is overachieving, no matter which way you want to turn it.”
Clearly, Kompany strongly disagrees what what those in the boardroom at Crystal Palace have done.
Crystal Palace will struggle to appoint Kompany
Even before these comments, it seemed farfetched to think that Kompany would join Crystal Palace.
The Belgian has Burnley 13 points clear at the top of the Championship – three wins away from promotion – and the Clarets could theoretically replace Crystal Palace in the Premier League next season.

Kompany now also seems to think that the south Londoners are trigger-happy when it comes to firing managers, based on his comments, so he surely wouldn’t want to work for them in that respect.
