Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest - Premier League

Chris Sutton says Son Heung-min and Richarlison had very different games during Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The former striker thinks Son was ‘pretty quiet’ for Antonio Conte’s men, despite getting on the scoresheet in the second half, whilst Richarlison was ‘far more of a threat’.

After the Brazil star’s outburst, following Tottenham’s Champions League exit to AC Milan, he was named in the starting XI by Antonio Conte against Forest.

That proved to work wonders because Richarlison was on it from the start, and in truth, his goal in the first half should have stood because it didn’t look offside, even though VAR thought otherwise.

Either way, it was an impactful performance from Tottenham’s forward line and a much-needed boost after recent cup debacles.

Richarlison was the story leading into the game, he proved to be the talking point for the right seasons after the game as well, which was touched upon by Chris Sutton, as he told BT Sport (11/03/23 at 4:20 pm).

“It was a good ball from Porro to Richarlison,” said Sutton. “He was trying to pick Son out the first time. He whips in a cross. Worrall clears it, then it goes straight back to Richarlison, who then lifts the ball straight back to the far post.

“Son takes a really good first touch away from Aurier, drags the ball and then fires the ball past the goalkeeper from eight yards out. Son has been pretty quiet. Richarlison has been far more of a threat down that right-hand side.

“And Antonio Conte is happy. This is typical Spurs.”

RICHARLISON DOES HIS TALKING ON THE PITCH

The Brazil star is still looking for his first Premier League goal for Spurs. But that performance against Forest is why he was brought to north London.

Of course, there is still a long way to go and now he needs to maintain his place in the XI.

The issue with Spurs is that one week they can look amazing, then abject days later and the worry is that’s what will be around the corner.
