Pregnant women using Starbucks drink to induce labor but it

Pregnant women are consuming a specific Starbucks drink as it supposedly induces labor, although it’s not advised to do so.

In the final few weeks of pregnancy, ladies often try old wives tales that are said to bring on labor in a bid to get their baby out quicker.

From eating curries and dates to trying acupuncture and exercising more, there are loads of things that are said induce childbirth.

None of them have got any real scientific evidence to prove them though and they’re really nothing more than speculation and hope.

In 2023, women have turned to a Starbucks drink as a form of induction due to one of its herbal ingredients, but health experts don’t recommend it…

The Starbucks drink that allegedly induces labor

The drink which is said to induce labor is the Iced Passion Tango Tea.

It contains a blend of hibiscus, lemongrass and apple mixed with ice to create a refreshingly vibrant tea infused with the color of passion.

Most women are also adding between four pumps of raspberry syrup, which supposedly makes the tea taste even better.

However, Starbucks has discontinued raspberry syrup this month, so you may need to substitute this for strawberry flavor instead.

Plus, many are adding pineapple juice or syrup too as the fruit is said to bring on labor. However, it’s the hibiscus which is the main culprit.

Pregnant women are trying the drink on TikTok

The Iced Passion Tango Tea has gone viral on TikTok where women are trying the so called ‘labor tea’ and seeing if it actually works.

“So we’re as Starbucks because we’re gonna get ourselves some of that labor tea,” one expecting woman said in the drive-thru.

Another added: “I’ve just got back from Starbucks and I’ve heard that this drink induces labor, don’t know how true it is.”

“40 weeks pregnant and trying the Starbucks labor inducing drink,” a third woman wrote. “Please work I’m desperate.”

If you’re feeling a bit under the weather, a great drink to try is the Honey Citrus Mint Tea which has been nicknamed Starbucks’ ‘medicine ball’.

It doesn’t actually have any medicine in, but it’s full of honey and citrus, which are proven natural remedies to cure a cold, sore throat and cough.

Using hibiscus to induce labor isn’t advised

The theory that the drink will induce labor stems from the fact it contains hibiscus, a flowering plant consumed as tea when the flower’s dried petals are brewed.

However, Healthline says drinking tea containing hibiscus isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant as it can delay puberty in the baby.

There is also a risk it could encourage blood flow to the uterus and bring on early menstruation, causing early labor and even miscarriage.

“As tempting as it might be to down a cup of hibiscus tea to help speed up the onset of labor, it’s safest to completely avoid hibiscus throughout your pregnancy,” the site advises.
