Police have warned against the TikTok trend called the Kool-Aid Man fence challenge, but what exactly is it?
Social media has become a popular place that has given rise to multiple trends over the years. Among all the platforms, TikTok has managed to get the top spot in this.
While some of these trends have been popular, there are a couple that has been deemed dangerous. These include challenges such as the Blackout challenge, the Magnet challenge, and many more.

What is the Kool-Aid Man challenge?
The Kool-Aid Man challenge is a popular TikTok trend where people forcefully kick open a door or run into a fence and yell “Oh Yeah,” as the Kool-Aid Man did in the ads.
The trend first became popular in July 2021 when kids were reportedly breaking fences in a bid to take part in the trend.
The trend resurfaced in February 2023 when kids tried to redo the trend to make it go viral.
Six kids were ticketed for criminal mischief
As per Suffolk County police, six kids were recently ticketed for criminal mischief as they tried to carry out the trend by breaking a fence.
A homeowner on Centereach’s Cobblestone Court reported hearing loud noises around 1 am in the morning. After looking at the surveillance camera it was found that six males had knocked down part of the fence.

The video also captured the culprits recording the entire scene. The police were able to identify the six kids who participated in the trend. They all were aged between 12 to 18.
The security camera also showed that these six individuals returned for the second time and took down another part of the fence as one of them recorded.
The parents of these children were also called when they were ticketed.

Police warn against the trend
Suffolk County Chief of Patrol Gerard Hardy warned against the trend and said: “This is a really bad decision, they shouldn’t be influenced by social media or their friends. It might seem fun and it might be a prank, but it’s criminal and they will be held accountable.”
This is not the first when police have issued a warning against a TikTok trend. A couple of months ago, a woman fell victim to the Kia challenge where people try to start the vehicle using a USB cable.
Police have advised everyone to be careful of trends online.
