Player Leeds sold in 2022 has now created more chances than anyone else in his league this term

Leeds sold Leif Davis back in July 2022 as Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta decided to offload the defender.

It was a controversial decision at the time, as Leeds are not exactly blessed with a vast amount of options in the left-back department, while the 23-year-old was one of the brightest talents at Elland Road.

To make matters worse, Leeds only received £1m from the deal.

Now, Davis is proving that Leeds might have made a mistake letting him go permanently as he shines for Ipswich.

What’s the story?

Well – as things stand – no player in League One has created more chances than Davis this season.

Some may scoff at that statistic as Leeds sit two divisions higher than the Tractor Boys, but the achievement certainly shouldn’t be overlooked, especially as the Ipswich No.3 is a defender.

Davis has created 95 chances in 32 League One appearances so far this term, 30 more than Sean McConville who sits third in the rankings, and two ahead of Barry Bannan in second.

Nine of those 95 chances created have resulted in assists for Davis, while he has also scored two himself.

Make no mistake about it, the Englishman is thriving at Portman Road.

Leeds should explore Leif Davis return if he shines in Championship

With all due respect to League One as a division, it is miles away from the Premier League.

However, plenty of standout players in the Championship have gone on to impress in the Premier League, such as Wilfried Zaha, Jack Grealish, Michael Olise, Jarrod Bowen and more.

Therefore, with Ipswich sitting third and in a good position to achieve promotion, Leeds should explore a reunion with Davis if he can carry his form into the Championship, should he end up in the second tier next season.
