PETER White has died at the age of 86.
The Hollywood actor was best known for his roles in All My Children and Boys in the Band.

According to his All My Children co-star, Kathleen Noone, Peter died at his home in Los Angeles, California.
She told The Hollywood Reporter that he died of melanoma, a form of skin cancer.
The actress also revealed that Peter was not married and had no children.
In the soap opera, which premiered on January 5, 1970, Peter played Linc Tyler and Kathleen portrayed Ellen Shepherd Dalton.
Peter was on the show from 1974 to 1980 with a few guest appearances in 1981, 1984, 1986, 1995, and 2005.
Before his role as Linc, he performed in The Boys in the Band.
The show first premiered off-broadway at Theater Four in April of 1968.
It followed a group of gay men who attended a party at their friend’s apartment and had a positive portrayal of life in the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Opening night, none of us knew what we had,” Peter said in an interview from 2008, “We all just thought, ‘It’s a play, it’s something new, it’s different and it’s good.’ It was a 100 percent gay audience — and then the next day, it went crazy!”

He continued: “We got a call to come to the theater early, because there was such a crowd around the theater, you couldn’t get near it. Everyone at the time wanted to call it a gay play — [I always thought] it wasn’t [so much] a gay play [as] it was a play with gay characters.”
In 2020, Netflix released a film based on the play starring Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer, and Zachary Quinto.

Peter was born on October 10, 1937 in New York City and has a major catalog of film and TV roles.
He began his acting career on the CBS soap opera, The Secret Storm starring as Jerry Ames from 1965 to 1966.
He continued his soap opera career by appearing in Loving Is A Many-Splendored Thing as Dr. Sanford Hiller.
