The comic, who rose to fame as a cast member on the late-night skit show, started off his monologue with a concerning joke.
Following his rehab stint this past July, Pete brought up his drug addiction while joking about bonding with his sister, Casey.
“I’m trying to bond with my sister, I feel like we should have a better relationship,” he explained. “Me and my sister have nothing in common.”
“She assists brain surgery and, I’m a drug addict,” he said.

“So, nothing.”
Later on, during a Barbie-inspired sketch, Pete mentioned being “high” as well.
While the joke did garner some laughs from the live audience, it comes after Pete spent a few weeks at a rehabilitation facility this summer.
PETE’S STRUGGLES
At the end of June, the actor first checked into rehab after battling borderline personality disorder and PTSD.
“Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” a source told Page Six at the time.
In 2017, when Pete was 23, his therapist diagnosed him with borderline personality disorder (BPD).
“I got diagnosed with BPD a few years ago, and I was always just so confused all the time, and just thought something was wrong, and didn’t know how to deal with it,” he said in a conversation with Variety’s Actors On Acting.
He added: “Then, when somebody finally tells you, the weight of the world feels lifted off your shoulders. You feel so much better.”
Pete was seen out and about in late July at a Florida pizza shop, looking healthy after spending the month at the same rehab where his friend and fellow comedian, John Mulaney, was treated.

Returning to comedy with a few shows in the Sunshine State, the Bupkis actor then announced he would be embarking on a comedy tour with an exciting list of A-listers on board.
He partnered up with Mulaney, 40, and Jon Stewart, 60, for the recent tour, which had a limited run at the beginning of September.
Despite a split from his ex Chase Sui Wonders in the midst of his return, Pete has successfully stepped back into his comedian roots.
MORE MONOLOGUE
At the start of Saturday’s episode of SNL, Pete decided to address the Israel/Palestine conflict instead of participating in a skit before the opening credits rolled.
He began by joking: “I know what you’re thinking: Who better to comment than Pete Davidson?”
He further and more seriously continued: “When I was seven years old, my dad was killed in a terrorist attack.”
“I saw what that’s like,” he continued. “I saw so many terrible pictures this week of children suffering.
“I saw so many terrible pictures this week. Children suffering, Israeli children and Palestinian children. It took me back to a horrible place.
“No one in this world deserves to suffer like that, especially not kids,” he said as his voice trembled.
He then shared a sweet anecdote about how comedy unexpectedly saved him while experiencing grief as a kid, saying his mom did everything she could to cheer him up.
“Sometimes comedy is really the only way forward through tragedy,” he noted.
“My heart is with everyone whose lives have been destroyed this week.
“But tonight I’m gonna do what I’ve always done in the face of tragedy- try to be funny, again I said try,” he finished.
