PETE Davidson has admitted he was high on ketamine when he attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral in 2018.
The Saturday Night Live, 30, confessed he made an “embarrassing” joke to Aretha’s family at the event.

Pete opened up about the incident in his new Netflix special, Turbo Fonzarelli.
He had attended the funeral in Detroit in 2018 with his then-fiancée, Ariana Grande, who performed a song at the service.
“I was on a drug for the past two and half, three years called Ketamine. What a time,” Pete said in the special.
“It’s embarrassing when you’re not on ketamine anymore, though… I’m embarrassed. I was out and about like that.
“That’s not cool, you know? I was at funerals like that. That’s f**ked up, right?”
“I was at Aretha Franklin’s funeral like that. Yeah, I have to live with that,” he went on.
“You know what I mean? She’ll never know, but still, that’s not the point.” You know what I mean?”
“If she was there, she would probably be like, ‘Hey, who are you? And what the f**k are you doing at my funeral?’ It’s embarrassing.”
“I’m so high, I thought it would be a good idea to go up to her family and go, ‘Hey, I’m just here to pay my R-E-S-P-E-C-T…S,” Pete added, referring to Aretha’s hit 1967 song.
The Bupkiss star, who had recently celebrated his 30th birthday before recording the Netflix special, said: “I had to stop doing hard drugs because [you] can’t be a drug addict in your thirties, you know?”
“Doing drugs in your twenties is fine. It’s like an excuse. You’re like: ‘I’m finding myself.’ It’s cute, you know?”
Pete had gotten engaged to Ariana just weeks before they attended Aretha’s funeral.
They split in October 2018 after being engaged for four months.
Pete has been open about his struggle with drugs in the past.
REHAB STINTS
The King of Staten Island star has been to rehab several times, including in 2017 and 2019.
He said in an interview with Howard Stern that he went to rehab because “there was no way he could stop” using drugs.
He checked himself into rehab in June 2023 several months after crashing his car into the side of a house in Beverly Hills.
“Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” a source told Page Six at the time.
In July he struck a plea deal to avoid possible jail time on a reckless driving charge stemming from the car crash.
The star previously admitted that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder when he was 23.
“I got diagnosed with BPD a few years ago, and I was always just so confused all the time, and just thought something was wrong, and didn’t know how to deal with it,” he said during a chat with actress Glenn Close for Variety’s Actors On Acting.
