Paul McCartney stuns fans by returning to Abbey Road to recreate iconic Beatles snap

PAUL McCartney strolls solo over a zebra crossing on Abbey Road — 55 years after he and his Beatles bandmates did so for their Abbey Road album cover.

Macca, 82, made his lone wander at night rather than the early morning, which the band did in 1969 after a recording session at Abbey Road Studios.

This time he wore shoes rather than go barefoot.

An onlooker in St John’s Wood, North West London, said: “It was special to see him recreate that famous walk when the rest of the country was sleeping.”

Yesterday the release of a new documentary, Paul McCartney and Wings – One Hand Clapping, was announced.

It will be a new behind-the-scenes look at their Abbey Road Studios recording session.

Paul said: “It’s so great to look back on that period and see the little live show we did.

“We made a pretty good noise actually!

“It was a great time for the band, we started to have success with Wings, which had been a long time coming.”
