Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has praised teammate Alex Moreno for his role in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.
The Villans left-back delivered a superb delivery for the forward to nod Unai Emery’s side into the lead on 17 minutes.
Moreno’s cross helped Watkins take his tally for the season to 10 goals in all competitions.
In addition, the striker has now scored for the sixth time in his last seven outings, and four in his last four on the road.
Meanwhile, Moreno now has two assists in claret-and-blue since his reported £13million move in January.
Watkins, speaking to the Villa media team, shared what he had told his teammate ahead of the match.
“I was saying to Alex, sometimes take a touch and look for me in the box early,” added Watkins.
“He’s done that and it’s nice to score again. It was an unbelievable ball from him.”
Watkins is eager to continue his momentum in the final third of the campaign, with plenty still to play for.

“It’s nice as a striker to score goals, that’s what you want to do at the end of the day,” he said.
“I’ve been working hard to do that; I always work hard.
“I’m looking forward to these last 12 games to keep scoring and help the team.”
Just getting started at Villa
Moreno has hit the ground running and is getting better and better with each passing game.
The 29-year-old is more of a possession-based full-back, in comparison to Lucas Digne.
Moreno is a real force down the left flank and it’ll be exciting to see how much he keeps developing at B6.
In particular, his link-ups with Watkins are becoming a real strong point, so let’s hope for more of the same there.
