Ian Wright says Tottenham Hotspur owner Joe Lewis is ‘nowhere near’ ambitious enough to help push the club to compete for the Premier League title.
The former striker thinks that Spurs can ‘easily’ be where Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are right now, and that’s sitting top of the tree in England’s top-flight, if Joe Lewis had the right attitude to take the club forward.
The 86-year-old, who is the 425th richest person in the world (Forbes), is an absent owner at Tottenham, with chairman Daniel Levy running proceedings instead and sitting top of the house.

This season, whether it be at home or on the road, there have been chants of ‘we want Levy out’ or ‘we want ENIC out’ sung by the Tottenham faithful.
Those paying their tickets are getting sick and tired of the powers that be at Hotspur Way not pushing the boat out, with many issues facing the managerless club in the summer.
Ian Wright stated that in Tottenham’s current situation, ‘everybody has got the blame’, but he made sure to fire shots at the owner, Joe Lewis, as he told Premier League Productions (03/04/23 at 2:50 pm).
“I think upstairs, we are looking at them changing managers,” said Wright. “The players have got the blame. Everybody has got the blame.
“But they still have got the same owner (Joe Lewis), who is very tight with what he is doing and it seems like ‘Oliver, please can I have some more?’ He’s not giving you anymore in retirement.

“He’s the one whose attitude needs to change or he needs to move on, in respect to what he wants to do with Tottenham. For the last few years, they are in and around it with the right kind of push.
“They could be challenging for the Premier League title, especially when you see what Arsenal are doing. Tottenham could easily be doing that as well. I don’t think the owner is ambitious enough to do that. He’s nowhere near ambitious enough to do that. He has been the one common denominator in all of the failure.”

WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?
No manager for next season, as things stand. A sporting managing director in Fabio Paratici, who has had to step aside for now, and a star striker in Harry Kane that might end up leaving in the summer.
When it comes to the long-term for Spurs, there doesn’t seem to be any proper plan in place.
Whilst they are sitting fourth in the Premier League table and perhaps punching above their weight, in that regard, the fans can just see a very dark cloud hovering above Hotspur Way.
