Could the poor international performance of the Ningen Fushin anime adaptation impact the season 2 renewal hopes of fans worldwide?
The end of the 2023 Winter anime slate is upon us; a time that can bring just as much closure to a global fanbase as it can anxiety as viewers look ahead to what the future could hold.
Today, the season finale of Ningen Fushin: Adventurers Who Don’t Believe in Humanity Will Save the World is set to premiere on Crunchyroll in just a few hour’s time.
Whilst Ningen Fushin season 2 still remains TBA, its global fanbase is becoming concerned that poor OTT ratings could hinder the chances of the anime returning for another adventure.

The final episode from the anime adaptation will release for OTT streaming via Crunchyroll at the following international times:

Will Ningen Fushin be renewed for season 2?
As previously noted, Ningen Fushin has not yet been renewed for season 2 – but what are the chances of the series getting a second broadcast?
The debate surrounding Ningen Fushiin season 2 comes down to two main factors; source material and popularity, with one working in favor of the renewal and one against.
On the one hand, the original Ningen Fushin light novel series that the anime is adapting is still releasing new content, with four complete tankobon volumes having been published in Japan – volume 5 is set to release on March 24, 2023.

There is also a manga adaptation of Shinta Fuji’s original work, which has released a total of six volumes in Japan. This means that there will easily be enough source material for a second season of the Ningen Fushin anime adaptation to be produced.
On the other hand, the main issue with season 2 lies with whether or not Studio Geek Toys will want to continue development, especially when considering the lackluster performance of the series with international fans.
Whilst user-based feedback websites are by no means the be-all-and-end-all for anime renewals, they continue to provide important data on how different series are being viewed by anime fans.
Unfortunately, Ningen Fushin has notably fallen by the wayside on the 2023 Winter slate, with unimpressive scores of just 6.52/10 on MyAnimeList, 6.2/10 on IMDB, 3.4/5 on Anime Planet, and 62% on Anilist.
As previously noted, these scores are by no means a definitive ‘nail in the coffin’ for the chances of season 2; however, with Geek Toys’ upcoming Dead Mount Death Play and Liar Liar anime set to premiere on the 2023 Spring slate, there is a good chance that the studio will shelve Ningen Fushin for more lucrative projects.
Overall, it would be a surprise, if not a welcomed one, to see Ningen Fushin return for season 2 – although the success of Geek Toys’ upcoming projects may be the last vestige of hope for fans of the anime series.
