Nile Ranger is far from a popular figure at Newcastle following a chaotic five-year stint at St James’ Park.
The 31-year-old was embroiled in a number of legal offences during his time with the Magpies, and he also caused anger amongst the Toon Army after criticising fans for booing the team off following a 2–1 defeat to Reading in 2013.
Now, Ranger has done something which is set to annoy Newcastle supporters all over again.
What’s the story?
Well, thousands of Newcastle fans were left disappointed after the club’s ticket allocation of 32,761 sold out almost immediately.
Now, Ranger has looked to take advantage of that desire for tickets by selling some at a hugely inflated price.
To make matters worse, he is charging Newcastle fans £1,000 more than Manchester United supporters are being asked to pay for one of his tickets.
Rangers wrote on Instagram: “Tickets available Carabao Cup. Serious only!! Man United end £1150. Newcastle end £2150. Market prices.”
You can see his post below, along with a furious reaction from Newcastle supporter Charlie Bennett.
After becoming such a disliked presence during his time at Newcastle – which saw him score just three goals in 62 appearances – this is highly unlikely to go down well with the Toon Army.
Where Nile Ranger is now after 2013 Newcastle exit
Ranger left Newcastle in 2013 after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Since then, the striker has played for Swindon Town, Blackpool, Southend United, Spalding United and Boreham Wood.

Ranger has been unemployed since leaving Boreham Wood back in July when his contract expired.
Newcastle fans didn’t exactly hold the Englishman in high regard even before his Instagram post regarding Carabao Cup final tickets.
Now, they will presumably dislike him even more as he attempts to overcharge supporters for a chance to watch their side take on Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday.
