Fans react as New Jeans becomes Lollapalooza

The K-pop world exploded after it was revealed that New Jeans and TXT will both be making history when they appear at Lollapalooza fest 2023 in July.

K-pop fans in the states and beyond will be rejoicing today after a major US festival announced the news of yet another success story for the ever-growing genre.

The news came from Lollapalooza Festival, who shared that two exciting K-pop acts are set to star alongside the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish this summer.

New Jeans to make history at Lollapalooza 2023

While K-pop is without a doubt one of music’s biggest success stories over the last decade or so, it’s easy to forget how many artists in the genre still haven’t quite made it to the mainstream worldwide.

And New Jeans proved to be the perfect example of this, after it transpired following the 2023 Lollapalooza announcement that they would be the first-ever female K-pop artists to feature at the festival.

Fellow K-pop stars TXT were the first ever K-Pop group to play Lollapalooza in 2022, and New Jeans will follow in their footsteps and lead the way for other Korean girl groups come this July.

The festival is set to take place in Grant Park, Chicago, from Thursday, Aug 3 until Sunday, August 6, with presale tickets going live this Thursday, March 23, at 10am CT.

Fans react to the exciting New Jeans news

If K-pop fans are one thing – it’s supportive of the bands they love. And when the news came through about New Jeans at Lollapalooza 2023, you can imagine how they reacted.

Rejoicing the exciting news, one fan wrote: “I told myself I’d never go to lolla again (because I hate festivals) unless another bts member goes…but I lied to myself. Best believe I’ll be there to see TXT, New Jeans & The rose”.

Other fans were pretty confident about the size of crowd New Jeans will attract:

And of course, others were quick to meme the occasion:

TXT also set for monumental Lollapalooza 2023 set

And one can’t mention the success of New Jeans without also paying tribute to TXT, who are also making history at Lollapalooza 2023.

Following the lineup announcement, TXT are set to be the first-ever Korean act to headline the original US version of Lollapolazoo, just a year after making their debut at the event.

TXT, who pull in over nine million monthly listeners on Spotify, have released four studio albums since 2019 and released their most recent project, The Name Chapter: Temptation EP, back in January.

And TXT will likely not be too worried about their headline slot, as they seemed to go down pretty well with the crowd at Lollapalooza 2022:
