Another national treasure was then lobbed into the drama, as concerns were raised about the broadcast of David Attenborough’s new documentary series.

Where to watch new David Attenborough 2023 documentary

On Sunday, March 12, David Attenborough’s new documentary series, Wild Isles, will air on BBC One. The first episode will premiere on the channel at 7pm GMT. It will then be available to stream on the BBC iPlayer.

The first episode is titled Our Precious Isles and will explore the rich diversity of wildlife found in the British Isles.

There are five episodes in total, all airing at the same time on Sunday evenings. This means the last episode will release on Easter Sunday (April 9, 2023).

Another Wild Isles episode will air exclusively on iPlayer

Amidst the ongoing rumblings of Linekergate, another allegation the BBC will not broadcast a Wild Isles episode over fear of “rightwing backlash” came to light. The BBC have since confirmed that there was never intended to be a sixth episode in the series. There is a bonus episode about natural destruction that will be made available on the BBC iPlayer. But it will not air on BBC One like the rest of the episodes.

A BBC spokesperson explained: “There is no sixth episode. Wild Isles is – and always was – a five-part series and does not shy away from environmental content.

“We have acquired a separate film for iPlayer from the RSPB and WWF and Silverback Films about people working to preserve and restore the biodiversity of the British Isles.”

‘A terrible mistake’

Viewers anticipating to tune into the new David Attenborough documentary series have been confused by the alleged ‘sixth episode’ scandal.

“Silencing the greatest advocate of the natural world is a terrible mistake,” one Twitter user commented on the matter.

Not fully “silenced,” new David Attenborough episodes will be available from this March 2023. No episode has been pulled or canceled, despite what the recent drama might lead you to believe.
