Tim Sherwood says Cristian Stellini shouldn’t be at Tottenham Hotspur and he should ‘never’ have got the manager’s job until the end of the season when Antonio Conte was sacked.
After Antonio Conte’s outburst, many were expecting him to get the boot, it was just a case of who would replace him, but not many expected it to be Cristian Stellini on an interim basis.
Previously, when Daniel Levy sacked a trophy-laden coach, he handed the keys to Ryan Mason, but, in this instance, he became Stellini’s right-hand man, rather than the man leading the charge.

From the two games the 48-year-old has taken charge, after Conte’s sacking, he has drawn one and he beat Roberto De Zerbi’s free-scoring Brighton on Saturday – the two managers exchanged words before and during the match.
But given that Stellini isn’t going to change much, from a tactical standpoint, and still use the blueprint put out by Conte.
Then, Sherwood thinks Ryan Mason should have been the one to take to the dugout, instead, as he told Sky Sports News (08/04/23 at 2:50 pm).
“They have had too many managers that think they are doing Tottenham a favour by being their manager,” said Sherwood.

“Now, they really have someone who wants to be there in Ryan Mason. Stellini should never be there, in my opinion.
“I don’t think you should have an assistant manager, who has come with the old regime. I thought he should have left with him (Conte) and Ryan (Mason) should have done it on his own and let him put his stamp on it.”

TOTTENHAM’S PERFORMANCES UNDER STELLINI
Whilst Spurs have put a positive set of results on the board since Conte’s sacking, in truth, the performances just haven’t been good enough.
That was proven when their Champions League-chasing rivals Brighton dominated them on Saturday – only for the on-field referee and VAR coming under huge stick for their woeful calls. Alan Shearer certainly wasn’t happy with all of that.
There’s no doubt that Spurs rode their luck in that game, but their fans won’t care one jot because they have the points on the board.
