Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits the Anfield natives’ plans for the summer transfer window will ‘never be enough’ to satisfy everyone as the Reds target ‘smart’ signings.
The German is determined to improve his ranks on Merseyside over the off-season after a sub-par campaign. Liverpool are at risk of failing to qualify for any European tour for next term. The Reds are also set for a trophyless season with each title effectively out of reach.
Only the Premier League title is mathematically still possible ahead of Liverpool facing the league leaders, Arsenal, this Sunday. Klopp’s side go into the match 29 points adrift of the Gunners with a game in hand. But they will have nine fixtures still to play after the match.

Liverpool’s issues have highlighted the Reds’ need for significant transfers
Liverpool have already now exited the Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup this term having struggled for consistent results. While the Reds will also welcome Arsenal to Anfield as they strive to end a four-game winless run. Klopp has not overseen a win since March 5.
Manchester United were the last team to fall victim to the Merseyside natives as they lost 7-0 at Anfield. But AFC Bournemouth, Real Madrid and Manchester City have since beaten Klopp’s side. While Chelsea and Liverpool played a goalless draw that lacked much quality.

Jurgen Klopp issues an honest view on the Anfield natives’ summer plans
Liverpool’s issues this season have particularly shone a spotlight on Klopp’s need to spend on midfielders in the transfer window. The Reds had already needed to improve their core in previous windows but neglected the issue. Now, Klopp must reinvent their engine room.
The Merseysiders have struggled to replicate their previous high-energy, defend from their attack approach. But Klopp has now admitted that Liverpool cannot go out and sign a new side in the transfer window. Instead, they must try to box smart with a few wise additions.
Klopp admitted, via 90min: “Whatever we do next year will never be enough from people’s point of view and your point of view. But, yes, with smart recruitment we will improve – definitely. That is the plan.
“And I think this club has a chance to go through this in a classy way. We cannot make 24 changes and say ‘here we go’ – not even ten. But it is just that we have to make changes, smart changes, and then we go again.”
