Danny Rose has shared that Cristian Romero is his ‘favourite’ Tottenham Hotspur player and he wished that he was able to play alongside the centre-back following their Champions League exit to AC Milan on Wednesday night.
The former Spurs left-back added that Romero’s red card was ‘unacceptable’, with the 2022 World Cup winner shown two yellow cards on the night against AC Milan.
Antonio Conte’s men went into their second-leg tie 1-0 down and were in need of some goals.

But rather than scoring goals, the team struggled to even have shots on target, as the Italian champions, in the end, eased through and created better opportunities.
Romero has always been an all-action player and someone who plays on the edge. On some level, it makes the 24-year-old popular, but also very costly to his own team.
Well, there was proof of that yesterday as Spurs were booted out of the Champions League, with Rose sharing his thoughts, as he told Sky Sports News (08/03/23).
“Romero is down on the floor injured,” said Rose. “But I think the red card, well a second yellow, is going to be for him.
“One of my favourite players for Tottenham. I wish I had the chance of playing with him. But he does run the risk of being a little rash. It’s part of his game. I am not sure he is going to change that at the age he is. You have to accept that.

“But making that mistake in the magnitude of a game like this. The last 13 minutes and needing a goal. It’s unacceptable.”

ROMERO A LIABILITY
The Argentine star just doesn’t suit Tottenham because they don’t have reliable players or performers around him.
If you were a Spurs fan, then you don’t want him to change, as his nation found at the 2022 World Cup.
But at Hotspur Way, there are so many average players that it means Romero needs to keep his head on and can’t be all-aggressive.
And whilst his red card was costly against AC Milan, it’s not his fault the team can’t score and it still makes him the club’s best defender.
