Stan Collymore has told Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United that they should ‘leave alone’ a transfer deal for Liverpool target and Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.
The Netherlands international has recently spoken about how he doesn’t want to make a move to Old Trafford, with Barcelona possibly facing the situation that they have to sell Frenkie de Jong because of their financial situation.
Either way, Collymore thinks those at Manchester United should stay clear, as he used Chelsea’s January capture, Mykhailo Mudryk, as an example and how he ‘blatantly wanted to join Arsenal’ before securing a move to Stamford Bridge.

Even if de Jong isn’t thinking about leaving the Nou Camp, at the end of the day, a lot can change in football during a small space of time.
And if the 25-year-old is available on the market, then there is no reason why your Liverpool and Man United’s of this world shouldn’t gun for his signature – Jose Enrique fears the £65 million target will join Manchester United and not Liverpool.
But former Premier League striker Collymore thinks that comes with an element of risk, as he told CaughtOffside.
“Frenkie De Jong spoke after Barcelona’s 2-1 El Clasico victory and once again reaffirmed his desire to remain with the Catalan giants,” said Collymore.

“As for Manchester United – they shouldn’t pursue players that clearly don’t want to move to their club. There’s an argument to suggest that Chelsea are finding this out the hard way with Mykhailo Mudryk, who blatantly wanted to join Arsenal before Chelsea offered a ridiculous contract.
“De Jong, every time he’s been asked about moving to Manchester United has pretty much said ‘no thanks’ – so just leave him alone and move on to alternative targets.
“If Manchester United end up getting taken over by ridiculously wealthy owners, there is no reason why they couldn’t look past De Jong and go after the real big hitters who are destined to become the next global superstar – Jude Bellingham for example.”

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL
Those are going to be the keywords when the elite teams sit at the negotiating table in the summer when trying to buy the elite players.
For Man United, they can probably breathe a sigh of relief that, after an abject start to the season, Erik ten Hag is going to guide them to third spot and Champions League football.
But the same can’t be said for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who are in serious danger of missing out on Champions League football, which would surely cause them issues when trying to sign the big guns, such as de Jong and not forgetting a certain Jude Bellingham.
