Michael was absent for three weeks from the morning show due to what has been described as a “personal family matter.”
The 51-year-old looked like his mind was elsewhere as he exited his New York gym.
The NFL Hall of Famer was still wearing his gray workout shirt and pants, and drops of sweat could be seen on his face.
Michael left his earbud in as he strode down the street.

He kept one hand in his pocket, as the other held a small salad.
Michael did not smile, and looked to be dispirited and dejected.
‘TEARS OF JOY’
Michael had not been on GMA since October 26.
He returned to his seat on Wednesday morning alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
At the start of the broadcast, Robin held up a finger and turned to Michael, saying: “Can I just say we have tears of joy because Michael is back here?”

Michael smiled and said: “It’s great to be back with both of you! Thank you guys.”
Eva Pilgrim had filled in for Michael on the broadcast on Tuesday alongside Rebecca Jarvis and George.
Rebecca and Linsey Davis have been covering for Michael during his time off.
MISSING MYSTERY
Michael has also been silent on social media since his absence.
A source from ABC exclusively told The U.S. Sun that he is dealing with a “personal family matter.”

When fans started to get concerned about Michael’s absence, many reached out to see where he was.
“Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters,” a spokesperson from the network told The U.S. Sun last week.
“We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”
He did return to his hosting duties at Fox NFL Sunday at the weekend, after two weeks off.
He looked downcast during his appearance on the show while sharing his thoughts on the New York Giants’ tough season.
