Melanie Martinez unveils Portals tracklist and it’s all fans had hoped for

Melanie Martinez has finally unveiled the tracklist to her long-awaited third album, Portals, along with her first single in two and a half years.

It’s been a long couple of years for fans of the alternative pop icon, but Melanie Martinez is finally back with new music, alongside a rather exciting album teaser.

Martinez, who first came to fame on The Voice back in 2012, has kept a relatively low profile since the release of her 2020 EP, After School, but began teasing a new era on Instagram in February.

Now, just a couple of weeks before the release of album number three, Portals, fans have finally been treated to a glimpse of the highly anticipated tracklist, and it’s safe to say it has created a huge buzz online.

In-fitting with the exact same format Martinez used on her first two albums, Cry Baby and K-12, Martinzes has kept the Portals tracklist to a neat 13 tracks, and appears to have stylized each track in block capitals.

Here’s the Portals tracklist in full:

  • DEATH
  • VOID
  • TUNNEL VISION
  • FAERIE SOIRÉE
  • LIGHT SHOWER
  • SPIDER WEB
  • LEECHES
  • BATTLE OF THE LARYNX
  • THE CONTORTIONIST

The tracklisting section on Martinez’s website gives a pretty good indication of the vibe of her latest project, with the list of track names being placed in front of a rather mystical, enchanted forest backdrop.

Fans react to the Portals tracklist news

Having waited patiently for so long, it came as no surprise to see that the enthusiastic fanbase of the Play Date singer was pretty hyped up by Martinez’s latest announcement.

Some placed their bets on what they think will be their favorite Portals tracks, with one fan predicting that: “I have a feeling faerie soirée and spider web will be my fav”.

Others pointed out that the album begins with Death, before ending on Womb – a concept that one user reckoned was a deliberate “full circle” moment from Martinez.

Heaping preemptive praise on the upcoming release, another Martinez stan added: “loving this track list!!!! faerie soirée and light shower are such pretty names omg”.

Portals tracklist is accompanied by new single, DEATH

Along with the tracklist, Martinez officially released the first single from Portals, DEATH, an eery atmospheric release that doesn’t hold back – clocking in at just over 5 minutes long.

“I’m back from the dead, back from the dead”, Martinez sings repeatedly, in a blatant announcement to her fanbase that, in case there was any doubt, her quiet period is over, and the Portals era is officially upon us.
