Meek Mill and Trippie Redd beef explained

FEUDING rappers are nothing new, and fans seem to love to keep up with the drama almost as much as they enjoy listening to the music.

The latest rappers who can’t seem to squash the beef are Meek Mill and Trippie Redd, as the duo are currently battling it out on social media.

What happened between Meek Mill and Trippie Redd?

On November 21, 2023, Meek Mill took to Instagram to call out Trippie Redd.

Robert Rihmeek Williams, known professionally as Meek Mill, is an American rapper.

Michael Lamar White IV, known by his stage name Trippie Redd, is also an American rapper, singer, and songwriter.

Mill posted a story of his message, written over a picture of Redd’s face: “This guy no good!! I ain’t even know you said my name….if you f**k with me, f**k this guy right here.”

He then deleted the post, before posting a photo of Redd on his Instagram grid.

He captioned the post: “If you not ready for Philly just mind your business @trippieredd he’s nooooooo good out here from Maine to Spain and I mean that!”

Meek Mill also deleted his second post instigating Redd, where he added that the Ohio rapper “look like you repping the devil.”

Trippie Redd did not respond to Mill’s comments, nor did he mention Meek on his new album Saint Michael, which was released earlier this month.

What are fans saying?

Fans were quick to weigh in on the feud online.

As reported by Uproxx, one social media user tweeted: “What the h*ll is going on with Trippie Redd and Meek Mill.”

Another asked: “Is Meek Mill an activist or gangsta this week?”

One user commented on Meek’s now-deleted Instagram post, asking “What happened?”

Another user encouraged the rapper to delete the post, which he ultimately did: “Take this down, could easily be taken for you putting in an order… This type shit is what goes into RICO collections.”

Who else has Meek Mill had beef with?

Meek Mill is no stranger to feuds.

In fact, he seems to have had or currently has beef with just about everybody in the music business, and beyond.

As reported by XXL, an American hip-hop magazine, Meek Mill’s past beefs include Travis Scott, 50 Cent, Louie V Gutta, Cassidy, and AR-Ab.

Some of his most prominent feuds were against Wale, Safaree, Norm Kelly, Drake, and Noel Ann DeSantis.

Wale

Wale, born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, is an American rapper signed to Rick Ross’s record label, Maybach Music Group.

In 2014, Mill tweeted about his label “brother” Wale, focusing on his lack of support for Mill’s new album.

He said: “Wale just ain’t gone tweet a thing about my album…. He’s been hating on me long time now …don’t even text me cornball! #UNOTMMG”

Wale denied the beef on his Instagram, telling Mill and the duo’s fans that there was no jealousy or hate between the two.

Still, the two beefed years later when Wale said Mill “battling” Drake would be like “bringing a pencil to a gunfight.”

Mill responded by publicly bashing Wale on his Instagram, even going as far as encouraging the rapper to jump off a roof.

Label head Rick Ross reportedly played peacemaker in both instances.

Safaree

Safaree Lloyd Samuels is a Jamaican-American rapper and former reality TV star on the hit VH1 show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Love & Hip Hop: New York.

He currently stars on Love & Hip Hop: Miami.

Safaree dated rap icon Nicki Minaj for 12 years before the two broke up, and a feud started brewing after Meek Mill started wooing the Roman’s Revenge rapper.

Mill took shots at Safaree in his song Pullin Up, where he suggested that his newfound relationship with Minaj started before she officially broke things off with Safaree.

Some lyrics from the song include: “Tell your man to wait inside when I’m pullin’ up.”

Safaree shot back in his song Lifeline, rapping: “When you was pulling up, I was pulling out / I know real sh*t I ain’t gonna talk about.”

Drake

Meek Mill took to X, formerly Twitter, to accuse the Toronto rapper and singer of failing to write all of his own rhymes.

He wrote: “Stop comparing drake to me too… He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!”

Drake responded with the hit single Back to Back, rhyming about Meek Mill and his girlfriend Nicki Minaj: “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? / I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more.”

Norm Kelly

Canadian politician and Toronto city councilor Norm Kelly took a special interest in Meek Mill’s beef with Drake.

After Mill accused Drake of ghostwriting in the diss track Wanna Know, the politician tweeted: “This is the reason people hire ghostwriters. #WeDidntWannaKnow.”

Mill took great offense to the tweet, and took to his Instagram to snap back at Kelly.

He wrote: “Norm Kelly hold up…… Young black dude that came from nothing vs old white racist man from Toronto…. I got more money than you already? You took the real ‘L’ in life champ!”

“Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!”

Noel Ann DeSantis

Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney may be the most unusual name on this list.

As the prosecutor on Meek Mill’s case on drugs and weapons charges, she unknowingly got into it with the rapper.

In his 2012 track The Ride, Mill rapped: “The D.A. said she hate me but I don’t understand / When I just rocked a show in front of 50,000 fans / I think that bitch racist, she probably in a Klan.”

DeSantis didn’t snap back in a rap – she did it in a court of law.

Since then, the rapper’s probation was revoked, he was sentenced to (and served) a few months in prison, and later was found guilty of a parole violation.
