Paramedics had to bring him back to life at least four times, the TV star revealed in an Instagram post.

Sheppard, who plays Crowley on the hit show, hailed the doctors for their efforts as he told his social media followers that his chances of survival were “virtually nil.”

He revealed that he had a blockage in his left anterior descending artery.

Sheppard, who also starred in the crime drama Leverage, thanked his wife, Los Angeles firefighters, and medics.

He said he felt “great” and has been left humbled.

Sheppard said he would be returning home from the hospital today.

Stars rushed to offer their well-wishes to Sheppard after he shared the health news.

Buffy and the Vampire Slayer star Felicia Day said: “Omg, Mark, I am so glad you’re recovering. This is awful.

“Sending all my love to you and the family.”

John Barrowman said: “Please do all they tell you to make yourself heal and get well.

“You are a lovely soul and a lovely man. I am sending you lots of love.”

Misha Collins, who starred as the angel Castiel in Supernatural, said: “Mark! You don’t need to do the most and biggest every time!

“6 heart attacks? 2 or 3 would’ve been impressive enough.

“You’ve impressed us, okay? Now stop with this, heal up, and get back on the road with us. Love you, pal.”

Sheppard revealed firefighters went “above and beyond” in their efforts.

He said they were “f**king fabulous” and hailed their “exemplary work.”

Sheppard, from London, has also starred in the reboot of Battlestar Galactica and has made appearances in shows such as Star Trek: Voyager and JAG.

He appeared in two Doctor Who episodes in 2011, and has starred in the cop drama White Collar.
