The Outer Banks star is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young actors but what did Madelyn Cline do before the hit show took the world by storm?
Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, the 25-year-old rose to fame for her role in the Netflix teen drama, as well as her offscreen romance with onscreen love interest Chase Stokes. Although their relationship ended in 2021, fans are always fascinated by the starlet’s love life.
Before Madelyn starred in Outer Banks, she had a series of smaller roles in television shows, movies and commercials after moving to Los Angeles on her own to pursue her acting career.

Madelyn Cline plays Sarah Cameron, one of the main characters in Outer Banks. She is popular, wealthy, and described as a “Kook Princess.”
Sarah easily gets bored with men and when John. B, who is a Pogue or working-class resident of the Outer Banks and is played by Chase Stokes, invites her on an adventure, she decides to tag along. This is the beginning of her relationship with John and her initiation into a new life with the Pogues.
What did she do before Outer Banks?
Madelyn Cline grew up 30 minutes outside of Charleston, South Carolina, and had a “very quiet” childhood.

In 2017, Madelyn dropped out of Coastal Carolina University after six weeks of her freshman year and decided to go West.
At 19 years old she drove her 2007 white Toyota 4Runner to the City of Angles and spent a year living in cheap apartments and working minimum wage jobs.
Early on in her career, she scored roles in the TV movie The Jury, The Originals, Boy Erased, and the film Maid To Order.
Was Madelyn Cline in Stanger Things?
Before being cast in Outer Banks, Cline’s most notable role was a guest spot on Stanger Things. She featured in two episodes of the second season.
Her character Tina was a student at Hawkins High School and hosted a “Halloween Bash” party at her house in October 1984. She was one of several girls interested in Billy Hargrove and often hung out with Steven Harrington. It was at her house party that Steve and Nancy broke up.
