Are Jordan Hawkins and Angel Reese cousins? Relation, parents, family, and more of the UConn star ahead of the NCAA championship game.
The NCAA championship game is here with the No.5 San Diego State Aztecs set to take on No.4 UConn. The Huskies are the favourites heading into the game and are into their first national title game since its 2014 win.
UConn have a number of stars but perhaps none bigger than Jordan Hawkins. The 20-year-old scored 13 points for the Huskies vs. Miami in the Elite Eight and has been shooting the ball at an impressive clip during March Madness.
The 6’5″ sophomore guard has scored over 20 points in 15 different games this year and may well be named the NCAA Men’s Tournament Most Outstanding Player should he perform and UConn get the win.

Is Jordan Hawkins’ cousin Angel Reese?
One of the biggest names to emerge during March Madness this year is Angel Reese. Reese and the LSU Tigers beat the Iowa Hawkeyes in the women’s national championship game on Sunday.
Reese, along with Caitlin Clark, has been the star of women’s college basketball this past month and has become a household name.
And rather amazingly, Jordan Hawkins is related to Angel Reese – they are cousins.
They grew up together the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia), where they often played basketball together at the park.
During the NCAA Tournament this year the pair FaceTimed and wished each other the best of luck:
Hawkins also shared an Instagram post about Reese.
‘Me and Angel go way back … I remember we was at the park, she was cooking me,’ he said:

Exploring Jordan Hawkins’ parents and family
We’ve already looked at Angel Reese’s parents, Angel and Michael Reese, who are both former basketball players.
Well, Jordan’s mother is Michael Reese’s sister, making him and Angel cousins.
Jordan Hawkins’ parents are Jasmine and Craig Hawkins, and his immediate family includes sisters Alexis, Chynna and Paris.
Jordan and his father are extremely close and Craig has been a huge influence on the UConn star’s basketball career.
“I predicted this since he was a baby,” dad Craig said. “We spent a lot of time on the basketball court. I knew if you put the work in, if you had the Kobe (Bryant), Michael (Jordan) mentality, success has to happen, especially when you’ve got a kid that never moped.
“He never cried about anything. Never said, no, I don’t feel like it today.”
“He means everything to me,” said Jordan. “My Dad is my best friend. I go to him about anything, not just basketball. He helped me with the college process and helped with my whole basketball life. Everything you see me do is because of him.”
“Ever since I was born, my Dad has stressed hard work, nothing is given to you,” Jordan added. “And my uncles, they preach hard work. If you work hard, you can achieve anything in this world. That’s one thing they definitely pushed.”
