Meet Angel Reese’s parents including dad Michael, a former basketball player and mother Angel who has been inundated with messages recently.
LSU women’s college basketball star Angel Reese has been a huge factor in helping the Tigers reach the national championship game this year.
In the Final Four against Virginia Tech, Reese finished with 24 points and 12 assists – her NCAA record-tying 33rd double-double of the season.
The Tigers take on Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday (2 April) in the national title game where Reese will be hoping to continue her March Madness dominance.
Where is Angel Reese from?
The 20-year-old, also known as ‘Bayou Barbie’, is from Randallstown, Maryland, and the Tigers star initially attended Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore.
It was here where she emerged as a top talent, leading the Panthers to three consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) championships. She was also The Baltimore Sun’s Player of the Year as both a junior and senior in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Reese then spent two seasons with the Maryland Terrapins in the Big Ten before transferring to LSU in 2022.
What we know about Angel Reese’s parents
Angel Reese’s parents are dad Michael Reese and mom Angel Reese.
From a young age, Angel showed a natural flair for sport including track, swimming, ballet, and basketball. It was not difficult to see where her aptitude for sports came from.
Her mother, Angel Reese, played basketball at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Her father, Michael Reese, was a star player for Boston College as well as Loyola, Maryland, playing the forward position. He stood at 6ft 8in and averaged 14.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Her brother, Julian Reese, is a sophomore on Maryland’s men’s team.
However, shortly after her and her brother were born Angel’s parents split up. Reese’s mother raised her and Julian as a single mother and because of her basketball background was a major influence.
“I used to go to my mom’s games when I was younger. She used to play in a little league, and I used to always go watch her games on Sundays. That was something that was always inspiring to me,” Reese says. “She’s always been independent and she molded that into me. I am who I am because of her.”

Her mother has been inundated with messages during March Madness
The younger Angel Reese has been a star of March Madness this year. However, it’s her mother Angel who’s been getting all the DMs.
The elder Angel Reese revealed on Twitter that she has been inundated with messages from men thinking they were contacting her basketball player daughter.
“FYI… I am Angel Reese the mom, not the LSUwbb player,” Reese’s mother wrote. “Please be mindful when you tag and/or send me DM’s that your intent is to me not my daughter.
“I’m getting some crazy dating request from men my kids age who clearly by the content of msg think they’re sending it to Lil A.”
“not y’all sliding in my momma dms,” the LSU star replied:
