The internet attempts to make sense of Lofi Girl’s stream yesterday, as she went missing from her online study space.
The YouTube channel dedicated to supplying chill melodies for millions to enjoy has caught the attention of its viewers with a mysterious stunt.
Lofi Girl is an animated illustration loved by many, with her official YouTube channel supplying an endless stream of her studying to some lovely music. She is usually accompanied by her orange sidekick, the cat. Currently, Lofi Girl has over 12 million subscribers.
Lofi Girl went “missing” from YouTube stream
The beloved Lofi Girl vanished from her stream on April 10, 2023, leaving many viewers in a state of confusion. At around 1 pm EDT, during the song Dawn Rain by Softly, Lofi Girl and her cat disappeared from her stream.
On April 7, 2023, the channel uploaded a mysterious video hinting at something deeper behind the simple Lofi Girl channel.
In the video, titled What Is Happening With This Blue Window? Lofi Girl can be seen looking out of her window as the camera pans toward a blue light flashing in the distance.
A day later, on April 8, 2023, the official Lofi Girl Twitter account shared the real meaning behind the flashing light.
The light contained a hidden message disguised in Morse code redirecting viewers to a website.
Various users speculated as to what they thought the website could be. Whilst some suggested it might be a Lofi app, others speculated it could be a Lofi Girl NFT.
However, many users got it completely wrong.
Lofi Girl mystery reveals ‘Synth Wave Boy’
The website, which leads to a simple black screen with blue text reading ‘Lofi World’, redirects users to a new YouTube stream featuring a different character.
Twitter users are losing their minds over the addition of what many are referring to as ‘Synth Wave Boy’. The character is an animated illustration of a boy sitting in his room, with a pet dog next to him, listening to music.
One user highlighted how Lofi Girl must be in one of the windows in the background of the new character’s room.
With the introduction of a new character and YouTube radio station, there is certainly more to come from the channel.
Currently, the main Lofi Girl radio stream is live. However, there are still no clear answers as to why she went missing from her stream. It is most likely linked to the recent confirmation by AMW that Lofi Girl will be launching an interactive campaign. The campaign promises to be an immersive experience for its users.
