European football expert Gab Marcotti has spoken about the situation involving Liverpool transfer target Ryan Gravenberch at Bayern Munich amid claims that he ‘hasn’t developed into the next Paul Pogba’.
The German champions recently sacked Julian Nagelsmann as coach – he is now being tipped to become Tottenham’s next manager.
But during Nagelsmann’s time at Bayern, one accusation, whether harsh or not, thrown at the 35-year-old was his lack of development of young players, including Ryan Gravenberch.

The 20-year-old came through the Ajax academy, but following his transfer from the Dutch champions to Munich in the summer, he has only played a tad over 300 minutes and he is yet to score in the league or the Champions League.
Despite that, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are keen on bringing the box-to-box midfielder on board, as reported by Sport 1 journalist Kerry Hau in February.
When Liverpool fans hear about a Bundesliga midfielder possibly joining them, Gravenberch isn’t exactly someone who comes to mind, but Marcotti shared his thoughts on the player, as he told ESPN.
“I want to go back to one of the big accusations against Nagelsmann and that’s with the development of youngsters,” said Marcotti.
“It’s not easy to develop young players at big clubs. Ryan Gravenberch is the obvious one. Highly rated at Ajax. He came over and he has hardly played.

“I would argue that it’s difficult to get on the pitch when your other midfielders, at the start of the season, were Joshua Kimmich. Goretzka, who has had a good partnership with him. Often, he has moved Jamal Musiala into a deeper position. Early in the season, you had Sabitzer as well, who came with Nagelsmann from Leipzig.
“So, this idea that he hasn’t developed into the next Pogba or whatever he was supposed to be. I can live with that.”

LIVERPOOL’S MIDFIELD
Liverpool want big names and performers through their doors in the summer – one of those names is Jude Bellingham.
Whilst from a financial point of view, fans question if FSG will put money on the table for him, the fact that Bellingham was seen with Steven Gerrard lately only makes those supporters even more desperate, as broadcast on Channel 4.
But Liverpool can’t get hung up on the Dortmund star, because this isn’t just an issue Bellingham alone can fix and a fair few players will need to be brought in during the summer transfer window.
