LEGENDARY 90s pop band Steps have announced they are “taking a break” from performing together.
The group will be bowing out of the limelight as a fivesome to concentrate on their own solo careers, according to band member Claire Richards.

Claire has told The Mirror that Steps will honour an upcoming gig at Brighton Pride before going their separate ways.
She told the publication: “Obviously we’ve got Brighton Pride in August but apart from that, we are taking a break.”
Claire added: “At the moment, everyone’s just concentrating on individual stuff, which is nice and it works for us when we do that, because it means that when we do come back together, it’s fresh again and we’re excited about getting back on stage and wanting to do it.”
The good news is, Claire insisted she and her bandmates – Ian “H” Watkins, Lisa Scott-Lee, Lee Latchford Evans and Faye Tozer – are not disbanding forever.
She added to The Mirror that they will “definitely be back”.
Steps formed in 1997 and stormed the charts with a string of hits, including 5, 6, 7, 8, Tragedy, and One For Sorrow.
The band sold 22 million records worldwide before breaking up in 2001.
They reunited in 2011 and even filmed their reunion for a four-part Sky Living documentary series.

Steps have been in and out of the studio together since then, while also dabbling in their own solo projects.
Last year, the band announced they were reuniting for a string of summer shows to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
But they have already shown signs of taking a break.
In June, we revealed how qualified personal trainer Lee was set to launch a workout based around the group’s biggest hit.
He has trademarked the name The 5,6,7,8 Method — in a nod to their 1997 debut single.
Claire is currently working on her second solo album, while Lisa has re-released her album Never Or Now.
H has reinvented himself as a painter and has been showcasing his art in Cardiff.
Meanwhile, Faye has returned to the stage, starring in a touring production of the musical 42nd Street.
