Oscars 2023: Who fell at the awards? Lady Gaga swoops in to the rescue

Lady Gaga stole the Oscar 2023 show not only for her intimate performance of Hold My Hand, but also for rushing to help a man who fell at the award show.

2013 was the year Jennifer Lawrence went viral for her Disney princess-esque fall during her best leading actress acceptance at the Oscars. 10 years later, history is repeating itself – well, sort of.

Luckily, Jennifer wasn’t the one who took a tumble this time. But unluckily for the person who tripped, their blunder has been viewed by millions across the world.

Don’t worry though, Lady Gaga was on hand to save the day, prompting fans to dub her an “angel”.

Who fell at the Oscars?

Gaga remained poised while being circled by cameras as she strolled down the untraditional champagne-colored carpet. One photographer who hurriedly walked passed the singer made a loud thud as he tumbled onto the floor.

The footage was recorded by a passerby, showing the photographer knocking shoulders with a man dressed in a white blazer next to Gaga, before falling onto the carpet.

The House Of Gucci actress can be seen immediately running towards the photographer and helping him to his feet, before resuming her walk inside. Another woman also dressed in a black gown helped the photographer pick up a piece of his equipment.

It may have prompted gasps, but nothing will be as unexpected as the Will Smith vs Chris Rock slap of 2022.

“And THIS is why she is MOTHER,” one fan praised. She’s not Mother Monster for nothing!

A second person wrote on Twitter: “Notice how she didn’t even think about it, it was in her reflex to help him, she’s just genuinely sweet and kind.”

“Queen of kindness,” another person hailed. “She may transform and change a lot through her career. But she would always be kind and humble. That’s in her and never changed.”

Elizabeth Banks nearly took a tumble too

Elizabeth Banks attended the ceremony to present the best visual effects category when her near-faceplant occurred. Just moments before handing the award to Avatar: The Way Of Water, the Pitch Perfect actress walked onto the stage whilst clutching her floor-sweeping Vivienne Westwood gown.

She tripped on the train of her dress but luckily recovered with just a minor stumble. She resorted to a shuffle as she approached the microphone, before joking that the ‘cocaine bear’ that followed her caused the mishap. Whether it was intentional or not, it became a viral publicity moment for her thriller comedy about the drug-fueled grizzly.
