Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal FC - Premier League

Jamie O’Hara has slammed the lack of performances from Yves Bissouma at Tottenham Hotspur this season after the midfielder could have joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal last summer.

The former Tottenham player pointed out that ‘kids are playing in front of’ Yves Bissouma now, as he made reference to 20-year-old, Pape Matar Sarr.

Last summer, after Spurs pipped Arsenal to fourth spot, there was a lot of noise in the transfer market.

Arsenal wanted to boost their midfield and one of the names that were long-linked to the club was that of Yves Bissouma, but instead, he moved to Tottenham, with Brighton even digging at the north London club when that transfer went through.

Well, fast forward to the present and Bissouma, who was a £25 million transfer (Sky Sports), is struggling at Tottenham.

Things could become from bad to worse for the player because, the man that brought him in, Antonio Conte, might be out of the door by the time players return from the international break because of his recent outburst, with Jamie O’Hara sharing his thoughts, as he told talkSPORT.

“They haven’t been good enough,” said O’Hara. “You look at the signings. Bissouma, for me, you look at Bissouma and you go ‘great signing’ (when he joined in the summer).

“This is why the rant was unacceptable from Conte because he is to blame. Whether he wanted them players or not, they have come to the football club and it’s your job to get the best out of those players.

“Bissouma was absolutely fantastic for Brighton last season. Sarr is now playing in front of him. He’s a young lad, who has come through the youth system. They paid £30 million for a central midfield player and kids are playing in front of him.”

BLESSING FOR ARSENAL

This is just a blessing in disguise for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta because this isn’t the first time that they have seemingly missed out on a signing that was probably high on their list.

Even in January, a certain Mykhailo Mudryk was gunning to join the Gunners, constantly teasing a move to Arsenal on Instagram, only to secure a transfer to Chelsea.

That forced those at the Emirates to turn in another direction and bring in Leandro Trossard from Brighton, and once again, it’s proven to be a blessing in disguise – Ian Wright has spoken about how Trossard has just become ‘better and better’ since joining.
