Brandon’s obituary, released on Tuesday, revealed that was in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones and that the couple, who were also business partners, lived together in Montana.

“After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,” the obituary read.

“He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.”

It continued: “Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.”

The U.S. Sun revealed in December 2024 that Brandon ran Valley View Rodeo with Brittney, Kelly Clarkson’s former assistant.

The rodeo is described online as a multi-faceted organization dedicated to preserving the Western lifestyle in the modern day.

“From heart-stopping bull riding to lightning-fast barrel racing, Valley View Rodeo showcases the best of both amateur and professional talent,” the website states.

At the time of The Sun’s report, Brittney’s LinkedIn stated: “I successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson under manager, Brandon Blackstock in Los Angeles for music and television.

“After a change in management for Ms. Clarkson I transitioned to Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock’s cattle operation in Montana where I currently run the office and administration work.

“I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.”

Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock dead at 48 after singer abruptly cancels Vegas concerts

Brandon was married to Kelly from 2013 to 2020 and had a daughter and son with the singer.

News of his death emerged shortly after Kelly announced she was postponing the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency due to her ex-husband’s illness.

A family representative said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.

“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

LOVE STORY

Kelly first met Brandon at an event in 2006 when his father was her manager.

Brandon was still married to his ex-wife, with whom he shares two children, when he met Clarkson, but the couple started dating after his separation.

In 2013, they got married.

Brandon, who had worked with Blake Shelton, became Kelly’s manager.

In their early years of marriage, Kelly often spoke warmly about Brandon.

In 2015, she released the single Piece by Piece, which reflected on how Brandon provided the love and stability she had longed for from her father.

In a 2017 interview with SiriusXM, the singer described Brandon as the first person she felt truly “sexually attracted” to.

“And I’m not downing my exes. You know, everybody’s different, but there was something about him,” she said at the time.

BITTER SPLIT

The couple filed for divorce in 2020 due to irreconcilable differences and were involved in a prolonged legal battle.

One dispute centred around their Montana ranch, where Brandon lived and ran a rodeo with Brittney.

Kelly won ownership of the property but lost a legal battle that would have evicted Brandon from the home.

Their divorce was finalised in March 2022, with Kelly agreeing to a one-time settlement of $1.3 million plus monthly spousal and child support payments.

Reports indicated the spousal payments were $115,000 a month.

In 2023, Brandon was ordered to pay Kelly over $2.6 million after losing a lawsuit alleging he mishandled her finances while serving as her manager.

After years of legal disputes, the couple withdrew all ongoing lawsuits in May 2024.

Kelly has since spoken publicly about the divorce, expressing regret over how things unfolded.

Speaking to SiriusXM, she said: “I think the thing about divorce, especially having it publicized, and people thinking they know the whole thing, the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn’t an overnight decision.

“I wanted to make it beautiful. I wanted to make it awesome. I wanted to make it everything it possibly could be, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen.”
