The awards honor the best musicians in soul, R&B, and hip-hop.
Connie Orlando, an Executive Vice President at BET, made a statement about Keke’s new role: “Keke Palmer is a globally recognized multihyphenate talent who embodies confidence and positivity and is one of the most engaging and lovable personalities working in entertainment today.
“We can’t wait to have her host the Soul Train Awards house party.”
She continued: “BET gave Keke her first talk show, where she made history as the youngest talk show host in television, and today we are honored to have her back on the Soul Train Awards stage.
“As always, expect our star-studded slate of soulful artists and can’t-miss moments to illuminate your screens for a night dedicated to soul music.”
Keke was also featured in a video on BET’s Instagram feed where she announced her new status as host while wearing a sexy red dress.
HARD TIMES
This announcement comes only one week after she got a restraining order against her ex Darius Jackson for domestic violence.
The singer was also given temporary sole custody of their son Leodis, eight months.
Darius did not receive any visitation rights for his son, who she gave birth to in February.
A source spoke to People and said Keke “did what she had to do” even though she wanted to have an “amicable split.”
