JUSTIN Bieber has left Super Bowl viewers fuming after he failed to show up during the Halftime Show.
Usher headline the highly expected performance, however, the Canadian pop star did not make an appearance despite buzz he would.
While the performance included cameos from Alicia Keys, Lil Jon, Ludacris, H.E.R, and others, Justin was nowhere to be seen.
Many fans were hopeful that Justin, 29, would come out and sing Somebody To Love, which is his and Usher’s hit song.
Even though Beliebers were left upset, the R&B singer performed hit songs including Yeah!, Love in This Club, Caught Up, My Boo, OMG, and more.
On X, formerly Twitter, fans shared their disappointment.
‘THAT’S IT?’
“That’s it? Usher’s done? Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are not coming out?” one fan asked.
“God, please make Usher bring out Justin,” another hopeful viewer wrote during the performance.
A third tweeted, “On my way to pick Justin Bieber up so he can sing with Usher.”
“It’s time for justin bieber to do his own superbowl,” a Belieber claimed.
Someone else said, “Me still waiting for Justin Bieber to come out even though the performance is over.”
Justin and Usher have known each other for years.
THEIR FRIENDSHIP
Their relationship has evolved from mentorship to a deep friendship, with Justin having gone from Usher’s protégé to being one of his closest pals in the industry.
The two met in 2008 when Justin was only 13 years old.
At the time, Justin’s former manager, Scooter Braun, had just discovered him after chancing upon one of his videos on YouTube.
After convincing Justin’s mother, Pattie Malette, to let her son fly to Atlanta, Scooter made Justin record demo tapes to send to record labels and coincidentally met Usher at the studio during one of the recording sessions.
The pop music star grew up idolizing Usher, so he offered to sing for him on the spot. But Usher turned him down.
But it wasn’t until Usher watched Justin’s singing videos that he expressed interest.
“His voice was magical and his personality was so keen,” the Yeah singer told The New York Times. “He just knew how to be.”
By then, it was almost too late, as many others had been keen on signing Justin, including Justin Timberlake.
But Usher was able to quickly iron out a deal with Scooter, and the rest, as they say, is history.
MUSIC HISTORY
Over the years, Usher and Justin have gotten the chance to collaborate on multiple tracks.
In Justin’s debut EP, My World, Usher appeared in a track called First Dance.
He also co-wrote the famous hit One Less Lonely Girl.
Usher also lent his vocals for the song Somebody to Love, the second single from Justin’s debut studio album My World 2.0.
It ended up reaching #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
For Justin’s Christmas album Under the Mistletoe, Usher and Justin sang a cover of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire).
In 2021, Usher was yet again featured on one of Justin’s remixes, particularly Peaches, along with Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.
