Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is now considering recalling Thiago Alcantara from his injury to start against Arsenal. The Reds will play host to the Gunners at Anfield on Sunday evening.
That is according to the Daily Mail, which reports that Klopp could now start Thiago against Arsenal in a huge boost for Liverpool. The Spaniard has missed the Merseyside natives’ last 10 games with a hip injury. But he is now in contention to return to the Reds’ starting XI.
Thiago last featured in the Premier League on February 4 as Liverpool lost 3-0 at Wolves. It marked just the 31-year-old’s 14th top-flight appearance for the term so far. The issue also stopped him from playing in the Reds’ Champions League last 16 fixtures with Real Madrid.

Thiago could now return from his hip injury to start for Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool lost three and drew one of Thiago’s last four Premier League appearances before his injury. But the Anfield outfit responded without the Spaniard to win four and draw one of their following five. Yet they have lost twice and also drew 0-0 at Chelsea in their last three.
Arsenal now pose a serious threat for Liverpool with Mikel Arteta’s team atop the Premier League table. The Gunners also beat the Reds 3-2 at Emirates Stadium back on October 9. Thiago started at Arsenal shortly after the Liverpool star returned from a hamstring injury.

Klopp is coy about Thiago’s availability to feature at Anfield on Sunday
Thiago had only featured against Brighton & Hove Albion before the Spaniard started away to Arsenal as Liverpool lost 3-2. But Klopp is considering starting his 46-cap ace on Sunday after their midfielder resumed full training. Yet he is coy on the Reds maestro’s availability.

“Thiago looks slightly different,” Klopp said on Friday, via the Liverpool club website, whilst offering updates on their injuries. “He was not out that long, trained now three, four times with the team and might be available. But we have to check how he feels today.”
Liverpool’s doctors deeming Thiago fit to start against Arsenal following his injury will be a huge boost for Klopp. The German adores the control the Spaniard can bring to his engine room. He can provide a vital calming influence at a time the Reds are desperate for results.
“He’s an outstanding player,” Klopp stated of Thiago, via talkSPORT, in April 2022. “I knew that when he arrived here, of course. He was unlucky with injuries and stuff like this at the start. But when he is fit, he can give the game a real rhythm.
“He’s got an eye for that. He calms the game down in the right moments [and] he has a sensational overview of the game.”
