Journalist shares interesting update about Wilfried Zaha at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace fans have been given an interesting update on Wilfried Zaha amid doubts over his future at Selhurst Park.

What’s the story?

Well, the Crystal Palace No.11’s contract expires in July – as things stand, no concrete decision has been made about his next step.

The Daily Mail believe Crystal Palace have offered Zaha fresh terms worth £200,000-a-week although the Ivory Coast international has delayed a response as he weighs up his options.

Now – as provided by Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato – we have been given an update.

It is said that Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Arsenal are monitoring Zaha’s situation, while Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad are also interested.

However, the interesting part for Crystal Palace fans is that the 30-year-old is not ruling out a contract extension at Selhurst Park either, as he would prefer to stay in Europe.

Zaha has endured a topsy turvy campaign this season with six goals in 24 Premier League appearances.

Despite that, the Ivorian enjoyed his best goalscoring season ever with 15 in all competitions last term.

Crystal Palace must be wary of committing to Zaha

In our view, Crystal Palace need to be sensible here.

Of course, the temptation to keep Zaha at Selhurst Park for the next few years must be strong for the Eagles, as he is one of the best players in the club’s history and also a firm fan favourite.

Having said that, the south Londoners just won 5-1 without their talisman as the next generation emerges in Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, so it may be unwise to splash £200,000-a-week on Zaha for a number of years.

Interestingly, the Abidjan-born forward has been injured a lot more than usual this season, so perhaps his body is no longer able to keep up with his dynamic playing style.

Nevertheless, if Crystal Palace did manage to keep Zaha, it would surely delight those in SE25, so make sure to keep an eye on the situation.
