JOJO Siwa has been labeled annoying by critics after she posted a slew of teasers ahead of her reimage.
On Sunday, the I Can Make U Dance singer took to Instagram to share the latest of her many teaser posts.
The photo featured an up-close shot of her butt which was adorned in a bedazzled – sheer and fishnet – costume.
JoJo, 20, captioned the revealing snapshot, “It was a matter of time.”
In the comment section, one person wrote, “Jojo. I understand ur finding urself but get ur butt off my screen.”
Another fan claimed JoJo was embodying Miley Cyrus, 31, as they defended, “She is in her Miley era. Leave her be.”
The pic was screengrabbed and reposted to a pop culture-dedicated Reddit board in a post titled, “Jojo Siwa prepares for her new music drop by posting to IG.”
In the comment thread, one fan stated, “I feel like she is going to try to emulate Miley Cyrus but will struggle to pull it off.”
A second person asked, “What is even the purpose of a close-up image like this?” before adding, “I know that Dua Lipa does this too but it’s usually in a post that has multiple images so it’s fine.”
“Whatever this is better be fire because she is doing way too much,” remarked a third.
A fourth commenter agreed, writing, “She seems to just be doing way too much with it all.”
“If “way too much” was a person,” added another.
Further down in the thread, a critic questioned, “Why is she dedicated to being the most annoying person possible?”
They continued, “To be fair this post of hers is harmless and not annoying but I think I’ve gotten to the point where even just seeing her name makes me feel irritated because I’m so used to seeing her act a fool lol.”
Another person reasoned, “Unpopular opinion but I’m glad she’s shedding her old image. Those tacky hairbows and nauseatingly bright outfits need to GO!
“Her eccentric and over-the-top personality is gonna make her a good ‘love to hate’ celebrity for the next few years before she inevitably reinvents herself once more.”
CONCERNED FANS
Earlier this month, JoJo left fans concerned after she shared a flurry of controversial Instagram posts.
The posts appeared to spell out an NSFW message about karma.
JoJo went on a posting spree on Tuesday afternoon, sharing photos of herself dancing with others, sticking her tongue out at the camera, and even flipping it off.
In each post, she added only one word for the caption, but when added together, it spells out the message: “See you in one month. Remember Karma’s a b***h”
It’s not clear who or what she is referring to yet, nor what could happen in a month, but fans are worried about the former child star.
JoJo will replace Nigel Lythgoe, 74, as a judge on Season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance – after he revealed in January that he won’t return to the show.
SYTYCD
JoJo is set to take a seat for the revival season of So You Think You Can Dance.
The singer will sit alongside Allison Holker and Maksim Chmerkovskiy at the judges’ table.
Meanwhile, Cat Deeley will host the reality TV series which made its return on March 4.
Nigel, who is one of the co-creators of So You Think You Dance, faced a few sexual misconduct lawsuits.
American Idol alum Paula Abdul accused him of assaulting her twice over the last 20 years.
In December, the singer filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County, California.
Paula, 61, claimed that Nigel sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was a judge on Idol and SYTYCD.
The Straight Up singer alleged in court documents that Nigel first assaulted her in one of Idol’s initial seasons, when they were on the road for regional auditions.
She claimed that she was in an elevator with Nigel at their hotel when he allegedly pushed her against the wall, grabbed her genitals and breasts, and tried to kiss her.
Paula tried to push him away from her, she said in the lawsuit, and when the elevator doors opened, she ran straight to her room.
Paula says that she called one of her reps to tell them about the alleged incident but ultimately decided to keep it quiet out of fear that Nigel would fire her as retaliation.
NIGEL’S RESPONSE
Nigel promptly denied the allegations in a statement to The U.S. Sun, “To say that I am shocked and saddened by the allegations made against me by Paula Abdul is a wild understatement. For more than two decades, Paula and I have interacted as dear – and entirely platonic – friends and colleagues.
“Yesterday, however, out of the blue, I learned of these claims in the press and I want to be clear: not only are they false, they are deeply offensive to me and to everything I stand for.
“While Paula’s history of erratic behavior is well known, I can’t pretend to understand exactly why she would file a lawsuit that she must know is untrue. But I can promise that I will fight this appalling smear with everything I have.”
