The family of American DJ and performer Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Blavat, aka “The Geator with the Heater” and “The Big Boss with the Hot Sauce,” have posted on Facebook via his page to acknowledge rumors of his death, and assure fans that, while he is in ill health, he is currently still very much alive.
“We are aware of the rumors surrounding Jerry’s death,” the post begins.
Blavat himself posted on his Geator Gigs website on or before January 10, 2023 with a message for his fans. In it, he explained why he had to “postpone or miss” a few of his scheduled performances.
“See you soon,” he bade its readers. Many will be hoping for a swift recovery from this particular spate of ill health.

A recent post on the Jerry Blavat, the Geator with the Heater Facebook page, presumably composed by Jerry’s family, has acknowledged what it says are “rumors surrounding Jerry’s death.”
“They are untrue,” the post reads, unequivocally.
He is with his family and closest friends and loved ones, it continues. Blavat has been “struggling with health issues” over the last few months, it acknowledges, which is likely part of the reason such rumors have begun to circulate.
Blavat had to cancel and postpone some of his upcoming shows, including one at the Kimmel Center that was supposed to take place on January 28, which, combined with updates about his ill health, may have led some to believe Jerry, age 82, had passed away. He hasn’t.
What is the nature of Jerry Blavat’s ill health? Is he sick?
According to the update he posted to his website on January 10, 2023, the reason Jerry Blavat had to miss and/or postpone some of his performance was due to health issues relating to his “torn shoulders.”
After getting “all kinds of evaluations,” he wrote, it became apparent that it is a “nerve and muscular issue.”
The condition is “not life threatening,” he added, which will likely have assuaged the fears of some fans. But others may have missed the update. He has been in receipt of “the most modern therapies available” for it.
However, because of the treatments, his doctors advised him to “cut down” on his schedule. Just “for the time being.”

Where can you still hear him in the meantime?
The statement on his Geator Gigs website says that DJ David Virgilio would be covering his Wednesday and Thursday appearances at the Oar House Pub in Sea isle City. And that he would be resuming his dance parties at Live! Casino in Philadelphia “in the near future.”
Jerry Blavat’s concert at the Kimmel Center will not take place on January 28, 2023. Its webpage on his Geator Gigs site says, however: “We are working to reschedule, and we will announce the new date as soon as it’s confirmed.”
Meanwhile, he suggested fans still hear “the best of both shows” by tuning in to the Geator Gold Radio Network. Check the calendar for up to date information on specific shows.
“I look forward to being back back with you shortly,” he wrote then. “Thank you for your understanding and for the loyalty and respect that you’ve shown me throughout the years, and thank you for the love and support you have been sending my way.”
