She took a step back from performing in 2022 while undergoing treatment, briefly returning to the stage in March this year with a cabaret show called Songs My Friends Taught Me.
ABC Classic Drive presenter Russell Torrance said: “Whenever she came into ABC Classic for an interview, we always ended up laughing so much. And as an artist, she was brave — just as happy singing cabaret or with electronic musicians as she was tackling Wagner.”
The cabaret signer died in hospital in Sydney on Tuesday night, according to the ABC.
She was a guest panellist on music quiz show Spicks and Specks and performed with many of Australia’s leading orchestras and choirs including Opera Australia and Victorian State Opera.
