Instagram appears to have added a new auto scroll feature to certain accounts and people think it’s really annoying.
With over 2.35 billion monthly active users, the app is always changing and updating things to keep it engaging for everyone.
There are regular alterations to all kinds of areas of Instagram including photos, DMs, layout, Reels, Stories and loads more.
The latest change concerns the feed, and it hasn’t gone well with users at all…

Over the last month, Instagram users have been noticing their feed is auto scrolling without them touching the screen.
When looking through posts from people they follow on the homepage, the screen suddenly starts scrolling through the posts on its own.
Instagram hasn’t announced the new feature, so it looks like it could be a test that the Meta-owned app is currently trialling.
When it comes up with a new idea, the social media platform secretly tests it on a select number of accounts to see if it’s popular.
If it’s successful, they usually then roll out the new addition to all accounts worldwide and announce it in an official post.
HITC and GRV Media have reached out to Instagram for comment.
Users think it’s really annoying
People have always wanted auto scrolling on TikTok, but not on Instagram and many think it’s really irritating.
One person wrote on Twitter: “This new auto scroll feature on @instagram is ANNOYING !!! Am I the only one that thinks so?”

“What’s this instagram auto scroll, it’s annoying!” said another.
A third person added: “Dear Instagram, I don’t like auto scroll. How do I TURN THIS OFF?”
Carousel posts are auto scrolling too
If things weren’t aggravating enough already, many have noticed that carousel posts seem to be auto scrolling too.
A carousel is an Instagram post that contains more than one photo or video and you have to swipe through to see them all.
The platform seems to be scrolling through the carousel automatically for some without touching the screen and many are urging the site to change it back.
“Instagram what is this stupid auto scroll feature on carousel posts? Barely 2 seconds before the images moves to the next one. Change it back,” one Twitter user said.
“Is anyone else’s Instagram auto scrolling carousel posts and if yes, do you know how to make it stop? Help,” another wrote.
