TAYLOR Swift’s new filming project was ‘intense’ with late nights and filming over several days with backup dancers and vintage costumes, The U.S. Sun can report.
The pop star sent fans into a frenzy on Monday evening when she revealed the title of her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Taylor, 35, announced the news in a promo clip from her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, which he hosts with his brother, Jason.
The full episode will be released on Wednesday at 7 pm ET.
The teaser came after The U.S. Sun revealed she had been filming a secret music video in Los Angeles late last month.
Now, new details can be revealed about the top-secret project.
A source told The U.S. Sun, “The hours were intense with many late nights, and filming over several days.
“Full details have to be kept under wraps to not spoil any surprises, but the theme is very glam and vintage.
“Several stylists worked on the looks, and multiple backup dancers were involved who have worked with her for years.”
Although those working on the video were not allowed to hear the full song, they did hear a “pop beat” and the track is said to be from the new album.
DITA INSPIRATION?
It’s understood that stylists have been working with a famous costume company in Los Angeles that counts the likes of Dolly Parton as a client.
Fans have already expressed excitement over the idea of a showgirl-themed video, with one posting on X, “Omg omg omg. WHAT IF WE GET A WHOLE VEGAS SHOWGIRL STYLE MUSIC VIDEO WITH THE VIGILANTE CHAIRS?!! And her eras dancers are in it???”
It seems the Swifties may get their wish in the coming weeks.
Taylor’s long-term stylist, Joseph Cassell Falconer, recently hinted at a showgirl or burlesque theme on his Instagram and is said to be involved.
Last month, he shared a throwback to April when he went to see Dita Von Tease perform at the Venetian in Las Vegas, posing backstage with her.
“It was the first time I’d ever seen an authentic burlesque show and I was blown away by every person who set foot on that stage,” he wrote alongside the picture.
“It was so beautifully staged, the costumes were works of art and the energy and authentic joy that I felt from every performer, especially Dita (My God…you are from another world!), was absolute magic.
“It was fun, cheeky, irreverent, classy, dramatic, nostalgic and incredibly empowering… a mix of so many words that we use to categorize various genres of art and entertainment, proving to me that burlesque defies categorization.
“Dita allows the audience to celebrate both the body and the incredible creativity and imagination of every performer and crew member.“
On Tuesday, after Taylor’s album name was revealed, the stylist shared the video clip from the podcast along with the title, “The Life of a Showgirl #TS12,” along with an orange heart and sparkle emoji.
The star’s 2022 music video, Bejeweled, previously featured Dita.
The pair performed the burlesque star’s iconic champagne glass routine together in sparkling outfits.
One fan on X, formerly Twitter, alleged that the music video was filmed on sound stages in Los Angeles, after seemingly backing up The U.S. Sun’s story.
ALBUM SHOCK
The woman, who works for Disney, wrote, “A guest in my Minnie van this morning said his partner works in LA at sound stages, and he said recently they couldn’t use the stages because taylor was filming something in them.”
She added, “He works for Disney plus and his husband is a producer! So I feel like he’d know what’s up.
“I know I heard the rumors circling about her filming a super secret music video recently. So this might confirm it?”
The U.S. Sun reached out to Taylor’s camp but did not hear back.
PODCAST SURPRISE
The album news was teased in a clip on social media, and saw Taylor produce a record case with “TS” written on it.
She then said to Travis and Jason, “So I wanted to show you something.”
Taylor then pulled out a copy of a new album on vinyl, although the cover was blurred.
“This is my new album, Life of a Showgirl,” she revealed, and gasps could be heard from her boyfriend and his brother.
Fans can pre-order the album right now, but as of yet, there is no release date.
Just months ago, Taylor bought back the rights to her back catalog of music from Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that acquired it from Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings.
The deal was reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars and included her masters, album artwork, music videos, and her unreleased tracks.
