Dion Dublin admits he is ‘pleased’ to see Jacob Ramsey is doing well after scoring for
Aston Villa against Newcastle United. He also feels the midfielder has ‘a lot’ of talent.
The Villans took an early lead in their Premier League match with the Magpies on Saturday as Ramsey swept home. He handed the Birmingham outfit the ideal start after drilling in at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins rose to cushion a header down inside the area in the 11th minute.
Aston Villa had started strongly as Unai Emery’s squad strived to add further momentum to their European qualification hopes. John McGinn floated an inviting cross into the area that Nick Pope could not reach. Ramsey then arrived late in the box to flash in Watkins’ header.

Dion Dublin is delighted to see Jacob Ramey delivering for Unai Emery
Ramsey is among Aston Villa’s most important players. But he endured a slight slip in form toward the end of Steven Gerrard’s tenure in October. Emery’s reign has since helped their academy product return to form. He has started 13 of the Spaniard’s 17 league fixtures yet.
Aston Villa going 1-0 up against Newcastle through Ramsey particularly pleased Dublin. He is a huge fan of the midfielder and the potential that the Birmingham-born youngster has. Ramsey has now featured in 84 Premier League games and has hit a double-digit goal haul.
“[He is a] very confident young lad,” Dublin said on the BBC’s Football Focus. “I’m pleased he is doing well and getting a run of games. A lot of talent there.”
